2nd Annual Star Wars Holiday Special Screening

It may be hard for younger fans to imagine, but there actually is something more reviled in the Star Wars universe than Jar Jar Binks. The Star Wars Holiday Special aired only once, approximately 30 years ago on November 17, 1978. Since then it has never been released on VHS or DVD, though bootleg copies exist. George Lucas, who had very little to do with the program's production, is rumored to rarely acknowledged its existence, even among close friends. So why subject yourself to the carnage of a beloved film series? Because it's so bad it's awesome. The two-hour special follows Han Solo and Chewbacca as they travel to Chewie's home planet, Kashyyyk, to celebrate "Life Day" with the furry family. Throw in some animated segments; cameos by Darth Vader, C3PO, R2D2, and Luke Skywalker; and a mind-bogglingly bad theme song sung by Princess Leia, and you've got a holiday train wreck worse than your uncle falling off the wagon. This event follows BLB's monthly Cinema Lounge, where local filmmakers and producers schmooze and talk shop. Please bring a new toy to donate to Toys For Tots.
