Exciting news: Fort Wilson Riot is playing every Thursday this month, save Thanksgiving, at the Hex—for free! Not only that, but the Minneapolis band will be rocking the melodrama with a changing lineup of friends and newcomers each time, among them Story of the Sea and Best Friends Forever. Will they reprise their rock opera? Will they improvise a soundtrack to a madcap, silent film? One minute they're beatboxing and the next they go all power ballad-y like they might bust into Guns N' Roses' "November Rain" or something. The flexible, fun band hasn't been around much lately, as they've been reshuffling their lineup a bit. Yet their political awareness and acumen remain intact, and Amy Hager's lovely, porcelain voice still features prominently. Don't miss the chance to see what one of everyone's "Best Of" Twin Cities bands has going. Listening at home just can't approximate the live experience. With Ornothopter; Story of the Sea.
