In an alternate world, Ron Sexsmith is a huge pop star. Of course, that world would reward artists for musical talent and their ability to write catchy songs rather than holding blondness, PR teams, and general vapidity in high esteem. In this world, Ron Sexsmith isn't insanely famous, but has a knowing following. His career has been prolific and his music well-received by the artists from whom he originally drew inspiration. His voice often sounds sleepy, and can even sometimes veer off precariously into the realm of overly sentimental. Sexsmith's songs mostly weave stories and vignettes into enjoyable tunes. His latest effort, Exit Strategy of the Soul, is his ninth studio album, was recorded in both chilly London and sizzling Havana, Cuba, and is a melding of music from both regions. Perhaps worlds do collide, sometimes. With Meaghan Smith. 18+.
