Tenebrism

Last fall, Jeremy Catterton from indie theater experimentalists Lamb Lays with Lion directed a stellar run of Fort Wilson Riot's rock opera Idigaragua. Now Catterton collaborates with Lamb Lays with Lion co-founder Jayne Deis on Tenebrism, an ensemble work reportedly inspired by Renaissance painter Caravaggio, the Joy Division's Ian Curtis, and Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ. Connecting the dots between these influences in a mental Google search yields suffering, beauty, and nagging images of crucifixion. When the theater festivities are concluded, the audience is welcome to stick around; each night a different local band will perform to a medley of film clips ranging from old silent movies to such tranquil classics as Robocop, and the less provocative but perhaps no less disturbing Teen Wolf.
