Taste of Lake Street

It's been a tough couple of years for the businesses along Lake Street. Constant construction, in an attempt to create turn lanes and widen that sidewalk about 12 inches, has probably driven away a significant amount of summertime customers. This Saturday, restaurants from the area get to showcase their tastiest treats for a good cause. Over 25 businesses will be offering wine and food tastings, from upscale to fusion to pub food to dessert, and coffees from all over the world, including Italian, Ecuadorian, Nepalese, Ethiopian, Thai, and Colombian, to name just a few. The live entertainment on the main stage and the street will feature a variety of music representing (much as the Lake Street community does) a plethora of cultures, including Native American, Mexican, European, and African. Comedy, puppetry, and a fine wine silent auction round out the lineup of events for the day. All proceeds benefit Minneapolis food shelves. For more info visit www.TasteofLakeStreet.org.
Sat., Sept. 13, 3-7 p.m., 2008
