Bad Jazz: Tickled Pink

When Bad Jazz looks back on its 25-year history, it does so with a sense of style. There's 1985's "Coffeehouse Bad Jazz," 1988's "Scary Bad Jazz," and 2004's "Fool's Paradise" (an April Fool's performance for MPR at the Fitzgerald Theater, in which not a moment of their live performance made the airwaves). Whatever the era, the lineup remains constant: Kevin Kling, Michael Sommers, and Loren Niemi. And its warped musical Americana arrives with storytelling and manic street preaching, all laced with the scent of BBQ and bygone days. "Tickled Pink" is also a fine chance to go to the idiosyncratic yet welcoming confines of the Open Eye Theatre space, which becomes a vital destination for future events the moment one first steps in the door.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 4 p.m.; Mon., Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m.; Thu., Sept. 25, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Sept. 12. Continues through Sept. 28, 2008
