Elephants and donkeys and Ron Paul, oh my! It's time to add another event to your election-year to-do list as the Minnesota Museum of American Art proudly presents "Get Out the Vote," its last patio concert event of the 2008 season. The event features an art exhibition showcasing the winners of the American Institute of Graphic Arts' (AIGA) nonpartisan poster competition by the same name. The 24 winners, announced in late August, will be displayed not only physically but digitally on the walls of the MMAA raw gallery space. If the spirit of the moment moves you and you are A) 18 and B) not a registered voter, the student-directed, nonpartisan group MPIRG will be on hand to get you all set for that certain Tuesday in November. No pressure, but they have a goal for the year to register 10,000 new voters. In addition to election-related hoopla, let your ears be serenaded by the sweet sounds of Solid Gold, Birthday Suits, Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, and A Night in the Box. Complimentary alcoholic (and non) beverages will be on hand to get tongues wagging; in the event of rain all festivities will be moved inside.
