Barhopping: The Happy Gnome
Published on August 27, 2008 at 3:20am
According to All About Beer Magazine, The Happy Gnome is one of 125 places beer lovers need to visit before they die. And it's no wonder that this bar and restaurant made the list: With over 44 beers on tap and 180 bottles, it makes most beer selections around town seem like small potatoes. But don't let the list overwhelm you; bartenders and servers are knowledgeable on all things beer. Tell them what you like in a brew and they will come up with a selection of three or four recommendations, from obscure to classic. The ever-rotating menu is generally in the nouveau American vein; all of the cheese platter appetizers are crowd-pleasers. Make a reservation upstairs for the Firehouse Room, try your luck downstairs at the bar or pub-style seating, or dine outside on the decent-sized deck.
