Pizza Luce Block Party
Published on August 06, 2008 at 3:22am
If you live in the Lyn-Lake area, chances are you dine at the Uptown Pizza Lucé at least once a week. After all, the siren song of the $5-pint-and-slice happy hour during the summertime when the outdoor patio is open is almost impossible to resist. I suspect this year's block party will be hard to resist as well. I know, walk down the streets of Minneapolis just about any summer weekend and you will stumble upon a random street fest, but this one is a yearly occurrence, and it has a low-key, friendly feel that's familiar to residents of the area. The food offerings will feature slices of pizza, obviously, but usually there are other options as well, including brats and vegetarian eats, and of course, beer. Music will all have a local flavor as well, like hip-hop/jazz/sound-art fusion band Kill the Vultures, folksy/bluesy A Night in the Box, pop/Americana band Romantica, and many more, all emceed by TV host and professional boozer Ian from Drinking with Ian. "Feeling good in the neighborhood" may be a cheesy and lame slogan for a national chain like Applebee's, but when frequenting a beloved local business this sentiment may actually ring true.
