Fallout Art Fest

Free food, community involvement, a film festival, and drum demonstrations by Devon Evans, a former member of Bob Marley and the Wailers—what else could you ask for in a street art festival? The sixth annual Fallout Urban Art Center's Art Fest boasts all of the aforementioned festivities and several others both inside and outside of the community arts haven. Although Fallout is frequently overshadowed by its much bigger, more extensive, and higher-profile gallery and museum neighbors, the MCAD gallery and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Art Fest is the nonprofit center's time to bask in the arts limelight. The 2600 block of Stevens Avenue South will be chockfull of arts, including four stages of live music, hands-on arts and crafts workshops, and pieces by more than 50 artists on display. Art Fest's diverse collection of various media and bustling atmosphere will intrigue both adults and budding child artists while asserting their role in the Minneapolis art scene.
Fri., July 18, 7 p.m.; Sat., July 19, 12-10 p.m., 2008
