Some may call it cramped, but I'd say the outside porch at Sweeney's is cozy. And most of the time it really is; during the day and early evening the green walls that surround the outside seating area leave plenty of room. Go there during prime nighttime hours, though, and you will probably find a seat, but it might involve some crowd negotiation to get there. That said, this is a fun St. Paul bar that draws remarkable crowds from the residential area surrounding it. Their happy hours are pretty spiffy, too. Every day from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sweeney's knocks off a dollar per drink with $3 fries and tacos, then again after 9 p.m. they sweeten the deal with $5 off pitchers of domestic beer, 50-cent wings, and $3 fries. Not much of a beer drinker? Sundays and Mondays feature half-off bottles of wine.
