Held on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of the month, Brit's pub quiz, some say, is one of the best in town. Trivial knowledge mastermind Shane Higgins hosts the six-round challenge, asking questions about current events, pop culture, and music. The entry fee is $10, and teams are limited to four to five members, so choose your co-workers or drinking buddies carefully if you aim to win. For those looking for a weekly quiz, the affectionately surly John Cosgrove hosts a free, three-to-four round pub quiz every Thursday at 6 p.m. Part pop-quiz, part cinematic slide show, part "name that tune," teams of unlimited size frantically debate answers in hushed whispers over fish 'n' chips and Guinness. Both quizzes are popular enough to merit their own space upstairs, and Brit's second level "Long Room" is normally packed mid-happy hour (Monday through Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.).
