Black Sheep

Black Sheep might be best known by the wider public for only one song, but what a song: 1991's "The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)" is a certified rap classic that still gets spun by damn near every opening-set hip-hop DJ worth his Technics. You can thank Dres's manic, tongue-twisting flow, an instant crowd-mover of a beat, and one of the most intractably catchy hooks of all time for that, and there's plenty more in their sharp debut, A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. A few personal favorites: the old-school gangsta parody "U Mean I'm Not," the comedic ugly-club-girl farce "Strobelite Honey," and battle-rap showcase "Flavor of the Month." Original co-member Mista Lawnge is sitting this one out, but Dres is sharp enough on the mic to hold his own for a headlining set. Golden age cats Nice & Smooth (of Partridge Family-sampling "Hip-Hop Junkies" fame) open. For tickets, RSVP at www.scion.com/livemetro.
