Red Stag Block Party

By Ben Palosaari

Published on June 12, 2008 at 3:21am

The second annual Red Stag Block Party is going to be a zoo. In addition to the crimson deer in the venue's name, there will be a flea market, and musical acts with names that draw from all parts of the animal kingdom. Performing will be the Owls, Buffalo Jack, and DJ Paper Tiger. There will be non-animal-monikered acts as well, of course, including the Plow Boys, Mike Mictlan from Doomtree, Big Trouble, Lady Hard-On, E.L.O. cover band E.L.nO., and oodles of guest DJs. The North Star Roller Girls will show off their bone-crushing skills on wheels along with performers from the Familia Skate Shop. Spot Spa will host a hula-hoop contest, because really, what block party would be complete without competitive hula-hooping? Electric Arc Radio will be on hand, and, because it is, after all, the Red Stag (Minnesota's first LEED-certified restaurant), the block party is a zero-waste affair. It will be a stag-geringly fun time.
