Modern Radio's Nine Year Anniversary

I think it's fair to say that the First Amendment Gallery has cornered the local market on rock 'n' roll art shows. Though it's been open less than two years, the space has managed to host an impressive rotation of local and national artists including print, tattoo, and letterpress art, often ushered into the space with DJ and rock performances. This month, First Amendment celebrates nine years of Twin Cities music with Modern Radio. The record label debuted in 1999 with the Misfires, and has grown to include acts from all over the United States, including Deerhoof, the Plastic Constellations, Vampire Hands, and STNNNG. They'll be celebrating their anniversary around town this summer with rock shows at the Turf Club and the Triple Rock, and First Amendment will be displaying live photography from over the years with featured photographers Carl Wedoff, Adam Bubolz, Sharyn Morrow, and Greg Schaal. Also on display are the usual screen-print artists, Aesthetic Apparatus, Burlesque of North America, Tom Stack, and others. They may not rock your ears, but we guarantee they will rock your eyes.
