Live Action Set—a collaborative movement-theater troupe formed by Megan Odell, Noah Bremer, Galen Treuer, and Vanessa Voskuil—is responsible for some of the most innovative and fearless work in town these days. Although the group's process often evolves up until the actual production, we do know that this show will involve the story of a family (with two and a half children) living through a time of personal and climate crisis in the early 20th century. The year is 1911 and it's been raining cats and dogs (after a bone-dry season). Such barometric upheaval wreaks havoc on the family's beloved piano, but this is more than a simple tale about furniture preservation. An unwitting piano tuner is drawn into the family's secrets, and life is never the same. With music by classical composers including Debussy, Ravel, and Rachmaninoff, the work weaves an intriguing story about music and the bonds of blood and love.
