Director and performer Jon Ferguson is among Minnesota's most versatile directors, an artist who freely injects a keen sense of text flow and physical movement into his original and adapted works. Last year's "Or the White Whale," for example, reimagined the creaky, waterlogged whaling ship world of Moby Dick through the simple yet highly creative use of ropes and boards. For his latest world premiere, Ferguson wrestles with another big fish: romantic love, a topic offering a full range of human experience from which to draw inspiration. Don't expect a sentimental valentine; Ferguson is drawn to all aspects of our personal passions, so moments of beauty and poetry will surely show their darker or more absurd sides as well. Ferguson, as always, employs a crack team of collaborators, in this case visual artist Jennifer Davis, playwright Deborah Stein, actors Sara Richardson and Jason Ballweber, and stage designer Erica Zaffrano. AD/ASL Friday March 7; post-show discussion Saturday, March 8.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Feb. 28. Continues through March 9, 2008
