Rock the Cradle

What insanely popular children's event is happening this weekend? No, not a Hannah Montana concert (thank god). I'm talking about Rock the Cradle. Though this event is popular, you won't have to seduce a scalper to sell you tickets for a grand: Admission is free. Loaded with interactive activities for kiddies baby-aged to eight years old, the main goal of the event is to engage children in the many aspects of music. There'll be Kids' Disco in the Children's Theatre, as well as live local musicians like Jeremy Messersmith, Adam Levy, spoken-word hip hopper Desdamona, and speed-rapper/beat boxer Carnage. DJs from the Current will be on hand to read their favorite children's books. Activities will be stationed throughout the museum, including a musical petting zoo, radio activities, and a blanket-making project that benefits children in need. Wary of the parking situation? Park at the Wells Fargo at 28th Street and Fourth Avenue and use the free shuttle.
