2008 Lights Up! Series

Illusion Theater's 2008 Lights Up! Series, dedicated to emerging artists and new work, is this year presented by the Lighthouse Group. And what an intriguing hodgepodge it is. First up is Noah Bremer's solo clown show "Untitled Duet with Houseplant," which is oddly self-explanatory. Next is the new dance piece "Public Exercise," performed by Katie Guentzel and Ellen Fenster and choreographed by Tim Cameron; it's about everyday experience and the present moment. After the intermission is a new short play by Cory Hinkle called "Cipher" that tackles terrorism alerts and government surveillance, directed and designed by Kris Lencowski. So we have clowning, dance, and drama, tied up with a bow in an evening of new material to combat any creeping sense of winter stagnation.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Jan. 18. Continues through Jan. 27, 2008
