It's true, open-mic nights can be a dodgy venture. Performers can be erratic and lack stage presence; the embarrassment of a failed joke can be almost too much to bear. Fortunately, at this open-mic night, those moments are few and far between. Thanks to the three-minute time limit, if things get awkward, at least it's over quick. The rapid-fire funny bone format also allows for a great deal of variety: On any given night, one might see a local comedian trying out new material, a college student popping his open-mic cherry, or someone's wacky grandpa with a weird stunt worthy of David Letterman's "Stupid Human Tricks." Whether you give a genuine belly laugh, or sit in stony silence while sipping your carafe of sangria, you're only three minutes away from a totally new shtick. 18+.
