Ballet of the Dolls: Nutcracker?! (not so) Suite

The Ballet of the Dolls has no fear when it comes to upending tradition, so why should The Nutcracker be any exception? In Myron Johnson's world, the stars of the show are Barbie and Ken (with Zhauna Franks and Michael DeLeon brilliantly emulating the dolls' plastic bodies), and the wistful heroine Marie lives in a condo with her cocktail-swigging mom. All the elements of the holiday story remain, but the rats are led by a head-banging rock 'n' roll queen, the costumes are campy, there are more laughs than you can shake a candy cane at, and Tchaikovsky's score makes way for Bing Crosby and Beyoncé. Leave the kids at home for the delightfully naughty version running on December 20, 27, and 31 (the last followed by a New Year's Eve celebration). 18+.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Dec. 13. Continues through Dec. 30, 2007
