Miss TiNea

The building at 490 N. Robert Street in St. Paul has been revamped from the old Grande Finale in the 1970s (a gay bar), into Rumours (another gay bar), then into Trikkx (also a gay bar), and finally into...yet another gay bar, called Camp. But fret not, LGBT folks and friends: This isn't a case of history repeating itself. Camp has distinguished itself from other local LGBT-oriented watering holes with upgraded entertainment and a lavish, upscale interior, complete with Madonna and child portraiture: The very radiant, beatified Judy Garland holding baby Liza actually stimulates one's urge to genuflect. Stop by Camp on Sundays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to sing show tunes along with Jeff Olson—it's one part piano karaoke, one part happy, fun sing-along. On Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Miss TiNea gets her fans on their feet (and sometimes on the bar) with her renditions of Donna Summer and Whitney Houston tunes. And just so we're clear, there are no lip-synching drag queens at Camp—this girl's 100 percent for real. Well, you know what I mean.
Saturdays, 6 p.m. Starts: Dec. 8. Continues through Feb. 2, 2007
