Macy's Holidazzle Parade

What exactly is a Twinkle Bus? According to the Holidazzle press release I received, it's the heaviest float in the parade's history. Like a sparkly, decked-out brick on wheels, it will be one of many things cruising down Nicollet Mall at a slow, flashing, and steady pace. Celebrating its sweet 16 this year, Holidazzle features many floats that are fairytale-themed, with over 200 costumed characters, marching bands, and celebrity grand marshals, all lit up like the main drag in Vegas (or a holiday house in the suburbs). And speaking of lit, though the parades are obviously family-friendly, that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be, too (and isn't liquor quite good at creating the illusion of warmth?). For those looking for a more "grown-up" experience, many bars like Brit's and the Local are ideal for slamming a pint with a round of pool before the show. Or perhaps hit the Dakota afterward for coffee, dessert, and jazz. Even better, this Saturday, Metro Transit will be offering free rides to the show from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (though you'll have to shell out $1-$2 to bus it back home). For more info call 612.376.SNOW or visit www.macysholidazzle.com.
Thursdays-Sundays, 6:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 23. Continues through Dec. 23, 2007
