Photobravo 2007: A Celebration of Photographic Art

"Photobravo," a benefit to raise funds for the Minnesota Center for Photography, opened last week for your viewing pleasure. Featuring at least 60 photographers, the show provides an interesting mix of local and international artists working today. Images range from playful pics of nearly nude guys celebrating with a beer bong, to starkly beautiful images of enormous icicles in a cave (with a barely noticeable, tiny naked woman walking through), to abstract work with a photo of a clock and chalk etchings. The event comes to a peak when from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, bidders will attempt to claim art as their own in live and silent auctions. The Saturday benefit will also feature live music and food. For those who can't afford their own art, viewings and gallery talks are happening during regular gallery hours through November 2. $3 suggested donation; $50 for the benefit. Call 612.824.5500 to register.
