When asked to name the locales that produce great wines, places like California, Australia, Spain, or France might spring to mind. But why not Minnesota? At this fundraiser for the Bell Museum of Natural History, noted professor of horticultural science James Luby will discuss the dynamic world of Minnesota wines—a surprisingly hearty and growing contributor to the industry. Luby's team of viticulture enthusiasts have been credited with designing some amazingly cold-enduring hybrids, including the University of Minnesota's Frontenac, Frontenac Gris, and La Crescent grapes, which have benefited local wineries. Sample pours will feature award-winning Minnesotan varieties, as well as cheese handcrafted by U of M students. Connoisseurs, occasional wine drinkers, and those looking to move beyond the Franzia boxes are all welcome.
