What a year this has been for red state representation--from the overstated indie cuteness of Junebug to the recycled tire-screeching of The Dukes of Hazzard. Is no one able to finance a movie in which Southern Americans appear as complex and interesting characters rather than as magic sticks to be rubbed on the skins of Kerry voters?
