National Children's Book Week

The Children's Book Coucil will observe National Book Week November 16-22. The event reflects the mobile, exciting, and varied societies that today's children inhabit. Since 1919, educators, librarians, booksellers, and families have celebrated National Children's Book Week during the week before Thanksgiving.

The Children's Book Council is a nonprofit organization encouraging the use and enjoyment of books and related literacy materials for young people. The Council's membership is made up of U.S. publishers and packagers of trade books for children and young adults, and producers of book-related materials for children. Proceeds from the sale of Book Week and other CBC materials help support the Council's literacy efforts.

Check your local library of favorite bookstore for events celebrating children's books or visit the CBC web site at www.cbcbooks.org for more information.
