Thinly Veiled Dreams

Belgian director Alain Berliner's first feature film, Ma Vie en Rose (translated as "My Life in Pink"), is the story of a boy who wishes nothing more than to be a girl. The lad's gender-identity crisis is seen as little more than amusing until he's discovered in a white gown, pretending to marry a school mate. The boy's family and fellow suburbanites react with confusion and outrage. But Ludovic, the boy (played by young George du Fresne, above) puts his faith in God and believes that the error in his given gender will be righted. The film, which recently won a Golden Globe award, opens Friday, Feb. 13, at the Uptown Theatre in Minneapolis. Call 825-6006 for details.
